Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England Training

1 Day Adult MHFA Champion

Mental ill-health is responsible for approximately 70 million working days lost every year.  

Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest causes of sickness absence in the UK.  Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England training helps to create a safe, healthy workplace where employees’ mental health and physical health are valued equally. ​​

This one-day mental health awareness course equips you with the skills and knowledge to become a Mental Health First Aid Champion. You will gain an understanding of common mental health issues, the confidence to advocate for mental health awareness and the ability to spot signs of mental ill-health. You will learn about:

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Mental health and stress in the workplace

  • Stigma and discrimination

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Other mental health issues (eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis)

  • Early warning signs of mental ill-health

  • Alcohol, drugs and mental health

Everyone who completes the course gets:

  • a manual to refer to whenever you need it

  • a workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health

  • a certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware

  • A copy of the Line Managers’ Resource, an invaluable source of advice on how to support an employee experiencing mental ill-health

Session details:

  • 1 Day
  • A mix of group activities, presentations and discussion.

  • Online via Zoom/Microsoft Teams or in-person

  • Delivered by an accredited Mental Health First Aid England Instructor
  • Participants: Up to 16
